The kurawanka bowl was one of the most common porcelain dishes made in the town of Hasami during the Edo period and was most commonly used by the peasantry.
Ceramic producers of the time found resourceful ways to provide the common class with costly porcelain at cheaper prices.
Kurawanka dishes are characterized by their simple, gosu blue patterns on grayish porcelain. Today, they are coveted the world over.
This teapot is an easy-to-use size for 2-3 people. It comes with a stainless steel tea strainer. Its circle design symbolizes the sun and is considered the source of power. The circle, which has no starting or ending point, is also considered auspicious because it signifies infinity.
